US-based healthcare technology company Embold Health has begun using conversational AI to simplify the care-seeking process.

The company’s data-driven assistants are designed to help patients make informed decisions about their care by providing real-time guidance and answering questions related to symptoms.

The Embold Virtual Assistant is a ‘next-generation’ navigation tool intended to help employers and health plans reduce costs while enhancing patient outcomes.

By using clinically validated provider performance data analytics from Embold, the solution aims to identify local providers who can deliver medically appropriate care.

It functions within Embold’s HITRUST r2-certified systems to provide data security, privacy and compliance.

Embold Health CEO and founder Daniel Stein said: “Consumers want and deserve trustworthy information when making decisions about their care.

“We’re building a future where AI enhances — not replaces — human decision-making in healthcare.

“We recognise that AI is a powerful tool for improving healthcare navigation to help consumers lead healthier lives.”

Embold said the versatility of its conversational AI enables its use across various communication channels, including Slack, secure SMS, and Microsoft applications such as Teams.

Users can interact with the AI by asking symptom-related or provider-specific questions and receive instant AI-powered responses.

Embold Health chief technology officer Matt Berns said: “Technology is evolving with the goal of improving our lives, and there is great potential in how AI can elevate the patient experience.

“In addition to Embold Virtual Assistant, we also launched an embedded, configurable healthcare template in the Microsoft healthcare agent service that helps users easily identify the best healthcare providers for their specific needs.

“Both solutions enable smarter healthcare navigation, making healthcare more accessible, personalised and cost-effective.”

Based in Tennessee, Embold Health aims to improve care outcomes and reduce costs for employers and health plans by helping them make informed healthcare decisions.

The company’s quality score methodology analyses data from across 21 care specialities and 68 sub-specialities.
