The state Government of Victoria, Australia, has selected the Exemplar Health consortium as the preferred bidder for the New Melton Hospital project.
The chosen consortium comprises Invesis as an investor, Lendlease to handle the design and construction, and Honeywell and Compass Group Healthcare to provide facilities services, as well as Capella Capital as an investor, sponsor, and asset manager,
After entering into exclusive contract negotiations with the government, the consortium will finalise the details and achieve financial closure for the project, which is expected to take place in the fourth quarter of this year.
As per the Victorian Health Building Authority’s (VHBA) media release, the more than A$900m ($603m) hospital project is being undertaken as part of a public private partnership.
The project involves assembling a private consortium to plan, build, fund, and upkeep the new facility for more than 25 years.
Situated within the future Cobblebank Metropolitan Activity Centre, the hospital will be located at 245-267 Ferris Road, Cobblebank, Melbourne.

This milestone will signify the project’s transition from the planning stage to the execution and delivery stage.
The entire hospital construction work is anticipated to be complete by 2029.
Upon completion, it will operate as a public hospital under Western Health.
Melton Hospital, which is expected to be Victoria’s inaugural fully electric facility, will accommodate more than 130,000 patient episodes annually.
The hospital will feature at least 274 beds, a round-the-clock emergency department, ambulatory care, an intensive care unit, maternity and neonatal services, radiology services, and mental health services.
In addition, it will feature a new education and training centre to support doctors and nurses in Melbourne’s western region.
