US-based non-profit healthcare system Froedtert ThedaCare Health has completed the structural steel phase of its new $84m ThedaCare Medical Center-Oshkosh in Wisconsin.

The company has held a topping-out ceremony to mark this achievement and is carrying out further work on the concrete roof slab and interior.

The ground-breaking for the health campus took place in March this year, with completion anticipated next year.

Froedtert ThedaCare Health North Region president Robert Cavagnol said: “This health campus was created to provide the best experience for patients and their families by our dedicated care teams.

“We knew we should create a new health campus closer to where more people live. It is important for our organisation to meet our patients where they are, and in this case, it is in the heart of the Oshkosh community.”

Located on the Fox River in downtown Oshkosh, the hospital will offer patient care services such as emergency and inpatient care, computed tomography scans, X-ray, ultrasound, mammogram, MRI and lab services.

The 114,000ft² facility will feature an ambulatory surgery centre with operating rooms, a retail pharmacy, and a building to accommodate a medical office.

It is expected to create around 60 jobs for caregivers and campus staff.

In August, the Oshkosh Plan Commission approved plans to add a 28,000ft² third floor to the original design.

Oshkosh Health Campuses and Fond du Lac vice president Jenny Nikolai said: “The steps we are taking now such as adding a third floor to the hospital allows our health system to plan for the future.

“It will also give us the opportunity to potentially add services over time, based on community need.”

Froedtert ThedaCare Health is also continuing work on its Fond du Lac Health Campus, which is due to be complete next year.
