The NHS North East London has confirmed that the St George’s Health and Wellbeing Hub, situated in Suttons Lane, Hornchurch, UK, is on track to open its doors next month.
The facility, on which the construction and fit-out work is progressing as planned, is being established to revolutionise healthcare delivery for approximately 250,000 residents in Havering and neighbouring regions.
The St George’s Health and Wellbeing Hub will offer a comprehensive range of services seven days a week.
It will house a general practice, alongside mental health, outpatient, and children’s, as well as a range of community services.
A purpose-built ageing well centre will also form part of the hub, providing a thorough assessment service for older, frail individuals to support both their physical and mental health needs.
In addition, patients will have access to scans and diagnostic tests at a new community diagnostic centre, which aims to reduce the need for multiple hospital visits and enable clinicians to offer quicker, integrated advice and support.

By GlobalDataOnce open, the new hub is also set to become a community cornerstone, offering space for local voluntary and community groups to conduct activities that promote wider healthcare and well-being.
Some of the key features of this hub include multi-purpose education and meeting spaces, a dementia-friendly communal garden, and a community café.
The construction of the new health and well-being centre commenced in December 2022.
This project received a significant boost in late 2019 when the UK Government pledged £17m ($21.6m) towards the development of a new health and well-being centre on the former St George’s Hospital site.
Havering GP and St George’s Health and Wellbeing Hub programme clinical lead Dr Atul Agggrawal said: “This is an exciting approach to how we support people to get the best quality care and support in one place. By bringing different partners together to support our residents in a joined-up way, we will make it easier for people to live well, stay well and age well.”
