The board of AIG Hospitals, based in Hyderabad, India, has approved an investment of Rs8bn ($92.3m) to enhance cancer treatment with the installation of a proton therapy system.  

The hospital chain has entered into an agreement with IBA, a Belgian company specialising in proton therapy solutions, to procure the Proteus ONE Proton Therapy System equipped with DynamicARC technology, reported The Economic Times Healthworld.com.

With this move, AIG Hospitals will become the third proton therapy centre in India, and the first in the South Indian state of Telangana.
