Tenders have been released for the A$460m ($314.21m) expansion of Logan Hospital in Australia, initiating two projects that will create more than 1,000 jobs during construction.
The expansion will add 206 beds and treatment spaces, while upgrading services across the hospital.

An Invitation to Offer (ITO) for the hospital expansion, as well as maternity upgrade, was issued to selected companies following a process involving open market expression of interest.
Member for Waterford Shannon Fentiman said: “The Logan community is growing rapidly, and the Queensland Government is supporting this growth through a major investment in health infrastructure.
“This is one of Queensland’s largest ever hospital expansions and will ensure that locals receive the best care, close to home.”
The expansion is part of a infrastructure improvements programme being performed at Logan Hospital over five years, including upgrade of maternity service and a new multi-level carpark.

By GlobalDataValued at A$18.87m, the Logan Hospital maternity service upgrade will involve addition of six maternity inpatient beds, five more birthing suites and an expanded special care nursery.
Overall, the expansion project is estimated to boost the hospital’s capacity by nearly 50%, including rise of one of the hospital’s main buildings by four stories and an open-air ground level built in.
The project will also upgrade and expand current clinical and support areas, including the emergency department, mental health, intensive care, endoscopy and coronary care units.
Member for Logan Linus Power said: “As well as the boost to healthcare services, the scale of the project meant there would be significant employment opportunities for local tradies and subcontractors, and into the future, more healthcare workers.
“The Queensland Government is focused on getting people back to work as part of the economic recovery from Covid-19, and this major project will support that through local jobs.”
The main construction work for the Logan Hospital expansion is set to begin next year, with construction for the maternity upgrade scheduled to start in September this year.
