Loyola Medicine has signed a definitive agreement with Tenet Healthcare to purchase MacNeal Hospital and other affiliated operations.

According to the terms of the deal, MacNeal and the related operations will be added to the Loyola Medicine’s regional health system, which currently serves the west, south, and southwest suburbs of Chicago.

MacNeal Hospital is located in a suburb of the city, and the additional affiliated operations comprise local Tenet-owned physician practices, the Chicago Health System (CHS), and associated CHS accountable care organisation.

“MacNeal and the related operations will be added to the Loyola Medicine regional health system, which serves the west, south, and southwest suburbs of Chicago.”

The CHS is an independent practice association of almost 1,000 physicians.

The deal is expected to be completed in Q1, 2018. It is subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.

Tenet Healthcare is a healthcare services company with nearly 130,000 employees.

The company, through its subsidiaries, partnerships and joint ventures, including United Surgical Partners International, operates 77 general acute care hospitals, 20 short-stay surgical hospitals and over 460 outpatient centers in the US in addition to nine facilities in the UK.
