Metro Pacific Health Corporation (MPH), a private hospital group in the Philippines, has acquired a majority stake in San Francisco Doctors Hospital (SFDH) in Agusan del Sur, Philippines.

The latest investment marks MPH’s sixth hospital in Mindanao and the 25th in its expanding network.

The company announced the acquisition together with its subsidiary Santos Clinic (SCI).

This strategic move signifies MPH’s commitment to enhancing healthcare accessibility and quality in the region.

San Francisco Doctors Hospital, a 100-bed facility established in 2013, is situated 80km from the Manuel J Santos Hospital (MJSH) in Butuan, which is also operated by SCI.

The proximity of the two hospitals is expected to strengthen operational efficiencies and create synergies, benefiting both institutions and the communities they serve.

MPH has announced plans to invest significantly in the development and management of SFDH. The goal is to improve the hospital’s capabilities to address the increasing healthcare demands of Agusan del Sur and neighbouring areas.

MPH chief transformation and operations officer Oslec Lopez said: “Our focus has always been on creating a robust healthcare network that can deliver superior patient care across the country and in the localities that we serve.

“By integrating SFDH into our network, we are expanding our reach and ensuring that the people of Agusan del Sur and nearby areas have access to the best healthcare services.”

This joint investment by MPH and SCI is part of a broader strategy to improve healthcare provision in provincial areas by connecting larger urban hospitals with smaller, strategically placed facilities.

The acquisition of SFDH by MPH is anticipated to introduce a new era of healthcare services in the region.

Metro Pacific Health’s network now includes institutions such as Makati Medical Center, Cardinal Santos Medical Center, Asian Hospital and Medical Center, Davao Doctors Hospital, and Riverside Medical Center in Bacolod.

The group also operates 33 outpatient care centres, Medi Linx Laboratory, and two allied health colleges.
