Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) Mental Health Service (MHS) in Qatar and the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) have announced plans to launch mental health clinics within primary healthcare settings.
This initiative is part of a joint commitment to enhance the accessibility of mental health services and to diminish the stigma often linked to seeking such care.
This month, MHS, in partnership with PHCC, will launch an additional 24 specialist clinics within various PHCC facilities.
These clinics, located at Al Waab, Al Sadd, Al Mashaf, Qatar University, and Al Wajba Health Centers, will provide patients with easier access to assessment, treatment, and care for a range of mental health conditions.
The partnership will see specialist mental health services integration within primary care, enabling simultaneous management of both physical and mental health issues.
HMC psychiatry chairman Dr Majid Al Abdulla said: “My patients were very happy with the new arrangements, we are keen to continue to work together to build on the early success.”
