Atlantic Health System has agreed to purchase Hackettstown Regional Medical Center, a 111-bed acute care hospital, from Adventist HealthCare.
The transaction is subject to state regulatory review, which may take several months to complete, and follows the completion of a merger between Atlantic Health System and Chilton Hospital on 1 January 2014.
Hackettstown Regional Medical Center, which was the only Adventist HealthCare facility located in New Jersey, will continue as a non-profit, acute care general hospital under Atlantic Health System’s ownership.
According to Atlantic Health System, the addition of Hackettstown Regional Medical Center will provide clear benefits to the community and help to advance health care in New Jersey.
The addition will help expand outpatient and preventive medicine services available within the region, expand evidence-based quality measurement and improvement, and also expand access to a regional health information network.
Benefits also include broader patient access to paediatric and other speciality care; clinical trials; and advanced protocols for emergent care, including complex stroke care, the latest cardiac diagnostic and treatment interventions, and advanced neonatal care.
