US-based Rady Children’s Hospital San Diego has unveiled plans to construct a new medical office building on four acres of land in Murrieta.

Named Rady Children’s Health Services, the new facility will offer outpatient services, including paediatric, adolescent and perinatal specialty care.

Rady Children’s Hospital business development director Kathleen Korn said: "There’s a growing demand for paediatric healthcare in southwest Riverside County.

"That’s why Rady Children’s is making an enduring investment in the health and well-being of children in the region."

Currently, Rady Children’s provides 15 different paediatric and perinatal specialty services at its outpatient office on Medical Center Drive in Murrieta.

Rady plans to shift these services to the new medical office building and will also add new specialties.

The hospital also operates a 13-bed inpatient neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Rancho Springs Medical Center in Murrieta, in addition to providing outpatient services.

Murrieta city manager Rick Dudley said: "One of Murrieta’s goals is to become the regional healthcare centre for southwest Riverside County.

"As the largest source of paediatric health services in San Diego, Rady Children’s is a great partner in expanding our region’s state-of-the-art health care."

The new facility is expected to open for services in early 2017.

Rady Children’s Hospital is a 520-bed paediatric care facility, which offers paediatric medical services in San Diego, southern Riverside and Imperial counties.
