US-based healthcare provider WellStar Health System has expanded its contract with labour management solutions provider Avantas to extend its consulting services and technology to an additional 400 departments across ancillary, ambulatory and support services groups.
WellStar selected Avantas in June 2013 to implement its labour optimisation services and Smart Square technology to automate planning, scheduling, staffing, deployment and reporting across 124 nursing units.
With the extension of the contract, WellStar will further integrate Avantas’ healthcare enterprise labour management (HELM) methodology, while receiving services for quarterly workforce and resource analytics reports.
Avantas senior vice president Jackie Larson said: "As more organisations seek strategies to achieve financial savings and increase staff retention, WellStar is a shining example of how healthcare systems can achieve incredible efficiencies while also boosting nurse satisfaction by optimising its workforce."
WellStar executive vice president David Anderson said that over the last 18 months the organisation has been able to optimise and automate its work strategies to provide a single, enterprise-wide view of labour resources.
"Due to the initiative’s success, we’re excited to take our enterprise labour management strategy to the next level," Anderson added.
