Nashville General Hospital (NGH), a public safety-net hospital in Middle Tennessee, US, has adopted Oracle Health CommunityWorks to support its financial, operational, and clinical needs.
The integration of this electronic health records (EHR) system across the hospital, which has 150 beds and more than 20 outpatient and clinic settings, is set to automate various manual processes and replace a range of legacy systems and devices.
This move aims to simplify the experiences of both clinicians and patients at NGH.
NGH chief information officer Melanie Thomas said: “We chose Oracle Health because it offered a more complete and integrated solution versus the other options we considered.”
Oracle Health CommunityWorks, a cloud-based solution, offers an integrated user experience tailored to smaller hospital operations like NGH.
It facilitates information sharing across clinics, inpatient and outpatient services, and the emergency department.

By GlobalDataThis connectivity ensures clinicians have access to complete and current patient health data, which is crucial for informed treatment decisions and enhanced care coordination.
In the future, NGH plans to implement Oracle Health Data Intelligence to further its understanding of patient health trends and its own financial and operational performance.
This suite of secure cloud infrastructure, analytics, and applications will provide NGH with valuable insights by integrating data from diverse sources, including clinical and pharmacy records, claims, and social determinants.
The goal is to optimise care for patients, particularly those with chronic conditions, and manage costs in value-based care arrangements.
Oracle Health and Life Sciences executive vice-president and general manager Seema Verma said: “We are excited to work with Nashville General Hospital to help deliver the best possible care to patients and further strengthen our connection to the community.“
In addition to these advancements, NGH is set to improve patient access to clinical studies by adopting the Oracle Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS) Cloud Service.
The CTMS will automate the management of clinical trial operations, enhancing the productivity and oversight of patient progress in studies.
