NHS Golden Jubilee has selected construction company Kier to build a new $59.8m (£43m) Surgical Centre at its hospital in Clydebank in Scotland.
Procured through Frameworks Scotland 2, the new Surgical Centre will feature theatre suites, surgical admissions and recovery unit (SARU), surgical administration space, central sterilising and processing department facilities.
Additionally, the facility will have endoscopy unit, orthopaedic amenities, outpatient and pre-operative spaces, and staff wellbeing spaces.
NHS Golden Jubilee chief executive Jann Gardner said: “We recently marked the completion of Phase 1 of our expansion with the opening of our new, state-of-the-art, Eye Centre: the first of the National Treatment Centres.
“We now look forward to benefiting patients across Scotland with our new Surgical Centre, which is due to be completed in 2023. The new Centre will carry out planned operations and focus on demand areas such as additional orthopaedic, diagnostic endoscopy, and general surgery.”
The project is due for completion by June 2023.
