Finnish construction company Nordec has secured a contract for part of the Laakso Joint Hospital main building project in Finland.
The contract includes the production and installation of steel frames for blocks A and B of the hospital’s southern portion, as well as the placement of concrete elements supplied by Lujabetoni.
The project involves building two hospital buildings and upgrading two protected buildings, as well as constructing a forensic psychiatric hospital in Ohkola, Mäntsälä.
Its design is based on the 2030 hospital area vision for the Helsinki metropolitan area.
Nordec’s area of responsibility includes the main building, which will function as a teaching and research hospital, offering services in psychiatric medical care, neurological rehabilitation, and other essential medical services.
Nordec’s involvement with the project began during the development phase and was initially focused on the northern part of the main building in blocks C and D.

By GlobalDataThe company said that being entrusted with the southern part would ensure ‘continuity and consistency’ during the construction process.
The project is reportedly on schedule, with Nordec’s portion expected to be completed by early 2026.
It will be implemented through a real estate company jointly owned by the City of Helsinki and Finnish healthcare operator HUS.
The delivery includes more than 4km of composite columns, more than 8km of Nordec slim-floor beams, and the installation of roughly 16,000 structures.
Based in Helsinki, Nordec designs, manufactures and installs a variety of industrial installations, using steel as its primary raw material.
As well as the Nordic countries, the company also operates in Lithuania, Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Its service offering includes single-storey and multi-storey buildings, heavy industry buildings, bridges and façade structures.
Earlier this year, Finnish project management contractor SRV Group signed a €38m contract to develop a forensic psychiatry hospital building at the Laakso Joint Hospital site.
