Northwell Health has signed a multi-year agreement with software technology company Playback Health to launch the latter’s patient engagement platform at its select clinical sites.
Playback’s software has been designed to provide medical information to patients that they can refer or share with others and get a better understanding about their health condition or treatment.
The purpose-built software is developed with an objective to promote mobility and sharing of point-of-care medical data, while following all the security standards for health information.
With the help of Playback’s software, clinicians will be able to create personalised care instructions using video, audio, pictures, and text to communicate a patient’s diagnosis and care plan.
Playback Health co-founder and CEO Gregory Odland said: “Playback digitally connects providers, patients and families to the point of care so everyone can hear first-hand what the doctor said. All the information is there, and you can replay it as many times as you like.”
The technology also has a video calling option that will allow clinicians to speak to their patients directly and enquire about their health condition.

Northwell Glen Cove Hospital patient care services/rehabilitation director Kimberly Rusnack said: “Our patients have found it incredibly helpful to be able to refer to their doctor’s comments. They told us that Playback also made it much easier for them to share information with family and other providers.
“Because our physical and occupational therapists had such a terrific experience with Playback, we’re now including our nurses on the platform.”
