New York-based NYU Langone Health has inaugurated a new ambulatory care centre on Long Island, marking the health system’s largest such facility on the island.
The new facility, named NYU Langone Ambulatory Care Garden City, has been opened by converting Garden City’s former retail space, housing Bloomingdale’s and Sears department store.
Covering a 260,000ft² area at 1111 Franklin Avenue, the centre is a mile away from NYU Langone Hospital, Long Island and near to a railroad station.
The design of this four-storey building has been revamped, prioritising patients’ experience. It features modernist architecture with enhancements such as increased natural light penetration and an outdoor garden.
The facility is equipped with 260 patient exam rooms and an expanded adult ophthalmology service.
The centre will provide care for an estimated 400,000 patients annually with its team of over 800 staff and doctors.
