OhioHealth has unveiled plans for a significant expansion of the OhioHealth Dublin Methodist Hospital in the US.

This expansion effort will mark the largest planned upgrade of the hospital from the time of its inception in 2008.

The project aims to enhance the hospital’s existing inpatient as well as critical care capabilities, potentially creating 200 permanent clinical positions alongside numerous construction roles.

Currently, Dublin Methodist Hospital features a total of 92 acute care beds.

The forthcoming expansion effort, which is currently in the initial planning stage, will focus on enlarging the first and second floors of the hospital.

The two floors will see the addition of more patient beds and new services to address the immediate and long-term healthcare needs of the community.

Additionally, the project will renovate existing areas, adding considerable space to the facility.

Funding for this substantial expansion project will stem from philanthropic efforts, community backing, and capital investment, OhioHealth said.

Apart from the addition of new services and beds, the expansion initiative will also support the Dublin Methodist Hospital’s ambition to secure Level III Trauma Center designation from the American College of Surgeons.

According to OhioHealth, this status, if secured in 2025, will position Dublin Methodist Hospital as the only Level III Trauma Center in the northwest region of central Ohio, US.

The construction phase of the expansion project is planned to commence in winter 2026, with the project’s completion expected by early 2030.

OhioHealth’s Dublin Methodist and Grady Memorial Hospitals president Cherie Smith said: “We are extremely grateful and excited for the opportunity to expand our hospital and provide even more exceptional care within.

“The team at Dublin Methodist has an amazing reputation and we want to create even more space for them to provide exceptional care for our patients.”

Dublin Methodist Hospital offers a wide range of healthcare services and medical technology, including an electronic intensive care unit.

It provides a comprehensive array of specialities, encompassing emergency and trauma care, cancer treatment, ENT, diagnostic evaluations and procedures for gastroenterology and endoscopy, alongside inpatient and outpatient mental health services.
