The Ontario Government in Canada has awarded a contract to M. Sullivan & Son for the construction of the new Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital (PECMH).

Construction of the healthcare facility tailored to the local community’s current and future needs is planned to commence in the coming weeks.

This hospital will be equipped with advanced equipment and facilities, including a 24-hour emergency department, a helipad, a procedural suite, a dialysis unit, and additional specialisations.

With construction to begin soon, the community and partners will have the opportunity to preview the design and learn about the construction process later this year.

The new PECMH is designed to be an advanced healthcare facility, with a focus on sustainability, featuring natural light in the atrium, energy-efficient windows, and sustainable materials.

The hospital will have 23 inpatient beds and an acute inpatient unit, with support from physicians within the Prince Edward Family Health Team.
