Phoenix Children’s Hospital has broadened its reach with the opening of its new Arrowhead Campus in Glendale, Arizona, enhancing access to top-tier paediatric healthcare for families in the West Valley.
The facility, spanning 175,000ft², is equipped to offer a range of services, including inpatient care, a 24/7 emergency department, surgical care, and advanced imaging services.
The newly campus is poised to treat up to 72,000 patients annually, addressing the growing demand for specialised paediatric services in the region.
Phoenix Children’s president and CEO Robert L Meyer said: “Our expansion plans in the West Valley have been decades in the making.
“This opening is the culmination of years of effort to build a comprehensive campus that addresses the unique needs of children and ensures West Valley families can access the care they need, much closer to home.”
The Arrowhead campus boasts 24 inpatient beds, with an expansion to 48 beds planned for early 2025. It features a 24/7 emergency department with 30 treatment rooms, six operating rooms, two minor procedure rooms, an onsite laboratory, and a full suite of imaging services.
This development represents a $195m investment and has led to the creation of more than 400 jobs.

The Arrowhead Campus is a key part of Phoenix Children’s long-term strategy to deliver care closer to Arizona families. The health system has also recently expanded the Phoenix Children’s Hospital – Thomas Campus, adding new patient rooms, clinical space, and a Level IV neonatal intensive care unit.
“Our goal with this expansion is to improve access, comfort, and care for families throughout our fast-growing metro,” Meyer explained.
“It’s not just about opening new sites; it’s about fulfilling our promise to bring the highest-quality paediatric health services to the communities where our patient families live and work. It’s healthcare they need and deserve.”
