Portugal-based health system Luisadas Saude Health (LSHS) has partnered with California-based software company PrecisePK to deploy Bayesian precision dosing technology for optimised clinical outcomes.
The partnership is aimed at improving patient care quality by equipping clinicians with evidence-based tools for clinical decision support, particularly in the field of infectious diseases.
This Bayesian precision dosing technology claims to enable enhanced precision dosing driven by data, along with advanced analytics capabilities that provide insights into medication history and local population pharmacokinetics.
A public facility under the LSHS, Hospital de Cascais has conducted a pilot of PrecisePK’s innovative model-based drug dosing solutions.
This approach is expected to facilitate faster and safer achievement of therapeutic antibiotic levels, contributing to responsible antibiotic use and combating antibiotic resistance.
PrecisePK account manager Christy Xie said: “Our team has had a great experience working with Hospital de Cascais’ knowledgeable pharmacists.

By GlobalData“We are ecstatic to be able to assist them in transitioning from the outdated online calculators to PrecisePK’s MIPD software and supporting them in excelling in their clinical workflow.
“PrecisePK has become extremely familiar with the antimicrobial stewardship efforts of countries outside of the US and we look forward to using this momentum to continue providing Bayesian-based technology worldwide.”
The collaboration follows the adoption of this technology at another Portuguese health system, Unidade de Saúde Local da Guarda (ULSG).
