Tampa General Hospital (TGH) in Florida, US, has opened an outpatient medical facility in the Sunlake community.

Located in Lutz, the 14,625ft² centre is TGH’s first outpatient location in the rapidly developing area north of Tampa.

It is also the hospital’s 20th imaging facility, with its other imaging facilities spread across Florida’s west and east coasts.

The new TGH Outpatient Center features 12 exam rooms for primary care patients and a large urgent care area staffed by board-certified medical professionals.

It offers nurse navigation services to assist patients in identifying the appropriate level of care, as well as a wide range of services for both adults and children.

The site also offers comprehensive imaging services through TGH Imaging, such as computerised tomography (CT) scans, bone density (DEXA) scans, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), mammography, X-ray and ultrasound.

TGH executive vice-president and chief ambulatory care officer Adam Smith said: “Tampa General continues to innovate the delivery of health care by bringing high-quality services closer to home for those in our community who need it most.

“The new TGH Outpatient Center also offers a valuable and cost-effective option for patients in need of immediate and reliable healthcare.”

Through Tampa General Medical Group, TGH will be responsible for managing primary care, walk-in and urgent care services at the new centre.

These services will be provided by TGH Urgent Care, which is powered by Fast Track.

TGH Urgent Care CEO Dr Daron Diecidue said: “Our urgent care services in the Sunlake community offer patients the quality care they need – when, where and how they need it.

“From medical testing to diagnosis and treatment for illnesses and injuries, the new TGH Outpatient Center will serve as a central health care hub.”

Last month, TGH introduced Apella, a technology platform designed to improve the experience of patients in operating rooms.
