Texas Health Resources, a nonprofit health system in the US, has announced plans to construct a new full-service hospital and an on-campus medical office building in Forney.

This move marks the expansion of Texas Health’s existing services in Kaufman County.

The new facility is expected to be the first full-service acute care hospital in Forney.

It will be situated on a 50-acre site along Highway 80 and is designed with future expansion in mind.

The hospital’s construction is expected to be complete in 2027.

Once open, it will offer operating suites, an emergency room, and a labour and delivery department, as well as a variety of imaging services.

All these facilities aim to cater to the rapidly growing community by providing a full continuum of healthcare services.

In addition to healthcare services, the new Forney hospital is expected to create hundreds of jobs in Kaufman County.

Apart from the construction of this hospital, Texas Health will continue to focus on enhancing its existing footprint in the community by developing a new medical office building on the future hospital’s campus.

Texas Health CEO Barclay Berdan said: “To better meet the community’s increasing needs, we are excited to offer more services and access points throughout Kaufman County, including constructing the first hospital in Forney.

“With deep roots in the community, including a hospital in Kaufman that has served this community for more than 40 years, we are excited to bring additional health care for Kaufman County residents.”

Kaufman County residents currently have access to several care sites, such as Texas Health Physicians Group practices, Quick Care video visits for virtual urgent care, and nearby facilities, such as Texas Health Hospital Rockwall and Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas.

Some of the recent investments made by Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Kaufman include refurbishments, unit renovations, and advancements in testing and diagnostic capabilities, such as the introduction of 3D mammography and other new equipment.

Berdan added: “North Texas continues to flourish and, as the leading health system in the market, we intend to continue investing in new ways to serve our community in Forney and beyond.

“By ushering in new access points, enhancing our existing care sites, and introducing innovative new care models, we’re committed to remaining the healthcare system of choice for North Texans.”
