US-based 981-bed academic health system Tampa General Hospital (TGH) has entered an alliance with GE HealthCare to enhance its imaging and ultrasound technology across its outpatient facilities in Florida.

Under this collaboration, GE HealthCare will provide its imaging and ultrasound solutions to improve diagnostic precision and patient outcomes across TGH Imaging’s locations in the US state.

TGH Imaging currently operates 21 outpatient centres across four Florida counties, namely Pasco, Hillsborough, Palm Beach and Pinellas, offering advanced radiology services.

With nearly 65 board-certified radiologists holding certifications in 11 different radiology subspecialties, the TGH Imaging team supports the research and teaching related academic missions of the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine’s Department of Radiology.

The latest deployment of GE HealthCare’s imaging technologies is expected to empower TGH Imaging radiologists by facilitating quicker and more accurate diagnoses.

It will enable the radiologists to better plan the treatments and deliver an enhanced experience for patients.

The partnership between the two organisations will also support their ongoing efforts to deliver accurate and timely diagnoses, as well as improved medical care using new technology.

TGH president and CEO John Couris said: “By investing in GE HealthCare’s technologies, we are not just focused on enhancing the patient experience, but also improving patient outcomes. Faster and more accurate diagnoses can help lead to better treatment plans and more lives saved.”

The latest agreement comes as an extension to the existing long-term alliance between TGH and GE HealthCare, which dates back to 2019.

Past collaborations have led to the implementation of projects such as the CareComm command centre with GE HealthCare’s Command Center Software and a capital refresh plan for imaging technology across TGH facilities.

In March 2023, TGH Imaging also installed GE HealthCare’s Omni Legend digital PET/CT system, showcasing the progressive nature of the alliance and its impact on patient care in the region.

GE HealthCare US and Canada president and CEO Catherine Estrampes added: “We continue to value and realise the power of our long-term partnership with TGH and TGH Imaging. Our shared respect and the openness with which we collaborate have allowed us to make real progress together in executing creative solutions to address current healthcare challenges.”
