US-based healthcare provider Tampa General Hospital (TGH) has announced its partnership with the Pulmonary, Critical Care & Sleep Disorders Institute of South Florida, enhancing its reach and services in Palm Beach County.

The institute, known for its quality medical care since 2019, will now operate as TGH Pulmonary Care & Sleep Institute (PCSI), retaining its staff of seven top pulmonologists and two Palm Beach County locations.

TGH PCSI will continue to serve its existing patients from its Atlantis and Wellington locations, now with access to TGH’s resources and specialists.

This strategic move aims to connect more residents in Palm Beach and Martin counties to advanced pulmonology care.

Since 2020, TGH has been expanding its services in these areas, leveraging its academic health system’s expertise and innovation.

Patients requiring a higher level of care will benefit from direct connections to TGH’s academic health system, which includes research breakthroughs, clinical trials, and advanced procedures.

Following complex treatments at TGH, patients can conveniently follow up with their TGH PCSI practitioner back on the East Coast.

The physicians at TGH PCSI employ a multidisciplinary approach to diagnose and treat a range of pulmonary-related conditions, focusing on preserving overall health.

Its medical experts treat conditions such as lung cancer, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), emphysema, smoking-related changes, bronchitis, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary fibrosis and pulmonary hypertension.

The affiliation with TGH is expected to be a seamless transition for patients, with no required changes in their care.

Tampa General president and CEO John Couris said: “Our collaboration with TGH PCSI further extends the availability of advanced academic-based medical care to the residents of Palm Beach and the Treasure Coast.

“Together with the exceptional physicians at TGH PCSI, we will provide patients with the same high standard of clinically excellent, compassionate care they trust and depend on. At the same time, this partnership will ensure direct access to leaders in academic medicine, cutting-edge procedures and innovative research protocols aimed at achieving the best possible outcomes for our patients.”

In June this year, TGH announced the deployment of an Artificial Intelligence Platform (AIP) from Palantir Technologies, aimed at advancing care coordination.
