The Thackley Green Specialist Care Centre in North Northamptonshire, UK, which offers short-term care support to individuals discharged from the hospital, has been transitioned to the North Northamptonshire Council (NNC).
The West Northamptonshire Council has been reviewing its care provision and working with partners to enhance discharge outcomes and promote individual independence and recovery at home.
In a statement, the NNC noted: “West Northamptonshire Council, which took on the centre from the former county council in April 2021, has been reviewing its care provision and has been working closely with partners to ensure the right support is available across the health and care system.”
Through discussions between the two councils, the operations and employees of Thackley Green have been transferred to NNC from 1 July 2023.
This change aims to increase reablement support for residents in North Northamptonshire in a location closer to their homes.
The West Northamptonshire Council is collaborating with the union and Thackley Green colleagues to facilitate a smooth transition.
In addition to this transition, West Northamptonshire has improved its Reablement West Service and established the Recovering Independence Bed Unit in Northampton, in partnership with Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, to provide short-term health and care for patients after their hospital stay.
NNC serves the areas of Corby, East Northamptonshire, Kettering, and Wellingborough.
As a single unitary council, it has the responsibility of delivering a diverse range of public services to both residents and businesses in these regions.
