US-based women’s health clinic Tia has integrated Nabla’s Ambient AI assistant into its clinical operations following a successful pilot programme.
The collaboration aims to improve patient-centred care by reducing administrative burdens on clinicians.
Tia’s Primary Care ‘Plus’ model combines primary care with mental health, reproductive health and wellness services for women.
Central to Tia’s approach is relational care, which prioritises active listening and shared decision-making.
The burden of excessive documentation can detract from this by redirecting attention to screens and potentially impairing the patient-provider connection.
Tia co-founder and CEO Felicity Yost said: “We want our providers to feel inspired by their work and deeply connected to their patients and not buried in administrative tasks.
“Nabla has given them back that time, allowing us to stay true to our values of gender equity and patient-centred care.”
During the pilot, 30 Tia providers across seven specialities, including gynaecology and psychiatry, reported that Nabla’s AI assistant halved the time spent on submitting clinical notes.
Following the pilot’s success, Tia has rolled out Nabla’s technology across all its clinics.
The technology is now being used by more than 90 providers, who have created more than 50,000 clinical notes to date.
Nabla co-founder and chief operating officer Delphine Groll said: “From the start, Nabla has ensured that the training datasets for our speech-to-text model include a great diversity of genders, accents, and languages to mitigate bias in clinical documentation.
“Moreover, our clinical documentation evaluation process includes checks to carefully assess whether facts are wrongly inferred, particularly due to gender biases.”
Earlier this year, Nabla partnered with Denver Health, a hospital in Colorado, to deploy the ambient AI assistant across its network.
Through its use of the technology, Denver Health aims to improve its care delivery, particularly for vulnerable patient communities.
