Global professional services company Accenture has agreed to acquire consus.health, a German healthcare management consultancy.

The terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed by the companies.

Completion of the deal is now subject to the fulfilment of standard closing conditions.

The move is expected to help Accenture in expanding its healthcare consulting capabilities in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland.

In addition, the acquisition will enhance Accenture's ability to assist healthcare providers and hospitals in improving care quality across these regions.

Consus.health, established in 2012, is claimed to have made a significant impact in the German healthcare sector, serving over 600 providers and hospitals.

The company has expertise in patient management, medical strategy, procurement, infrastructure management, logistics, as well as construction planning services.

According to Accenture, the integration of consus.health will bring together deep strategy and industry consulting knowledge with Accenture's strengths in digital transformation and managed services.

Upon deal completion, the consultancy's team of 140 experts, based in Freiburg im Breisgau, will join Accenture's Health Strategy & Consulting practice in Germany.

consus.health founder and CEO Dr Djordje Nikolic said: “By joining Accenture, we will continue our mission of structurally and economically empowering healthcare organisations to care for their patients.

“I am convinced that with Accenture's digital expertise and consus.health's healthcare know-how, we will help make a difference in healthcare and offer exciting new opportunities to our employees.”

Following the acquisition, Nikolic will head Accenture’s Health Strategy & Consulting practice in Switzerland, Austria, and Germany, where she will be tasked with developing and expanding the health provider sector.

Consus.health's portfolio includes the consus healthcare akademie, which provides more than 90 training courses for healthcare professionals at all levels.

The latest acquisition is part of Accenture's continued strategic investments in the healthcare sector, following previous acquisitions such as ConcentricLife, Intellera Consulting, and Nautilus Consulting.

Accenture market unit lead for Austria, Switzerland and Germany Christina Raab said: “In the healthcare industry, organisations are under pressure to improve access, experience, and outcomes while reducing costs.

“consus.health’s industry expertise will enhance our capabilities that help healthcare organisations with their digital transformation journeys and drive efficiency at the same time.”
