The Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Government has shortlisted CPB Contractors and Multiplex Construction for the delivery of the Northside Hospital project.

Both companies were selected based on their extensive experience in major health projects and will focus on generating new training and job opportunities during the project.

As the next step in the process, the ACT government has asked the shortlisted companies to reply to a tender request.

The government said that the Northside Hospital project will be the region’s largest health infrastructure endeavour.

The project is being carried out through an Early Contractor Involvement contract.

Moving forward, the request for tenders process is planned to continue until late this year, with the final contract expected to be awarded early next year.

Additionally, the government will collaborate with the stakeholders, consumers, workforce, and community members to finalise the hospital’s design.

This will further ensure it addresses the existing as well as the future needs of Canberrans.

The associated project planning and work will not impact the healthcare services at North Canberra Hospital, the government added.

The ACT government first initiated the search for contractors for Northside Hospital in May this year.

Located at the site of the Calvary Public Hospital in Bruce, Canberra, the hospital project is valued at approximately A$1bn ($674.3m).

The project's scope of work encompasses the demolition of existing buildings and the design and construction of both the main hospital building and a mental health facility.

It also includes the delivery of a 600-space car park and upgrades to the campus road network.

This comprehensive plan aims to enhance the overall functionality and accessibility of the healthcare campus.
