The Ministry of Health in Oman has commenced the construction of the Al Namaa Hospital in North Sharqiyah, marking a significant development in the country's healthcare infrastructure.

The latest milestone was marked by laying the foundation stone of the new hospital during an official ceremony held on 10 June, as reported by Muscat Daily

The project, which is valued at approximately OR56.05m ($145.57m), will see the new hospital established over an expansive area of 428,000m².

As per the report, the construction work for the hospital is expected to span over 30 months.

This initiative is part of the Omani government's health priority plan within the 10th Five-Year Plan, highlighting the nation's commitment to enhancing healthcare services, an old report from September 2022 by Oman Observer said.

In 2022, the Ministry of Health sought bids for the development of multiple hospitals, including Al Falah in South Sharqiyah, Samail Hospital in Dakhliyah and Al Namaa in North Sharqiyah.

The Ministry of Economy has underscored the importance of these projects in the health sector.

A previous report from September 2022 by Oman Observer detailed the tendering process managed by the General Secretariat of the Tender Board for these hospitals.

Oman Observer noted that Al Namaa Hospital, in particular, is set to cater to the needs of 115,000 residents of Al Mudhaibi.

It will offer a wide range of facilities, such as 150 to 300-bed capacities, accidents and emergency departments, outpatient clinics, operating theatres, medical labs, oncology services, radiology departments, inpatient wards, delivery wards, intensive care units, and premature infant care units, key service buildings, as well as renal hemodialysis units.
