Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, a research institution in India, has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with US-based healthcare innovation company Hikigai to launch a research centre.
The Amrita-Hikigai Joint Research Center for AI in Healthcare is poised to transform medical science with innovations such as robotic-assisted surgeries, artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled diagnostics, and nanobot-driven treatments.
This collaboration is set to harness the power of AI and new technologies to drive significant improvements in medical care.
Hikigai CEO Lalitha R and Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham Corporate and Industry Relations (CIR) principal director Chulliyil Parameswaran signed the MoU at Amrita's Coimbatore campus.
The event was attended by School of AI dean Dr K.P. Soman, Academia-Industry Partnership director Suresh Kodoor, CIR chief innovation officer Sai Sundarakrishna, and Hikigai chief technology officer Krish Subramanian.
This strategic partnership will concentrate on leveraging AI to develop customised treatment plans and diagnoses, utilise nanotechnology for precise drug delivery with minimal side effects, and enhance healthcare systems with AI-driven automation and optimised workflows.
Parameswaran said: “This partnership strengthens our vision of advancing research that directly benefits society.
“By combining Hikigai’s industry expertise with Amrita’s academic and research capabilities, we aim to create innovative solutions that will shape the future of healthcare and make it more accessible and effective for everyone.”
The alliance combines Amrita's interdisciplinary research capabilities with Hikigai's proficiency in AI and data analytics to tackle global issues like escalating healthcare costs and the growing demand for individualised therapies.
Leveraging large action models and knowledge graphs, Hikigai delivers a 360-degree view of patient health data.
