Construction of a new integrated hospital, Asan – UAE Gastroenterology Hospital, focusing on digestive health, has commenced in Dubai, UAE.
This marks the first international venture of South Korea's Asan Medical Center (AMC).
AMC is developing this integrated hospital in partnership with UAE-based Scope Investment at Dubai Healthcare City Phase 2.
The beginning of construction work was marked by an official ground-breaking ceremony, which was attended by dignitaries such as the Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Dubai, Moon Byung Jun; and Dubai Health Authority director general, Awadh Seghayer Al Ketbi.
Asan – UAE Gastroenterology Hospital is projected to enhance the UAE's medical capabilities in gastroenterology, including gastrointestinal oncology and liver transplantation management.
It will also improve the DHCC ecosystem, further establishing it as a premier healthcare and wellness destination.
The 21,150m² hospital will feature a total of seven floors, 65 beds with royal and VIP accommodations, two basement levels, and four operating theatres.
The hospital will also provide a full spectrum of gastroenterology care for both adults and children.
Specialities at Asan – UAE Gastroenterology Hospital will mainly cover gastrointestinal oncology treatment, endoscopy, bariatrics, liver transplantation management, and comprehensive health check-ups.
Other facilities in the hospital will include rehabilitation services, a one-day care unit, an ICU, and outpatient clinics.
Construction of the new healthcare facility is expected to be completed by 2026.
Moon Byung Jun said: “Asan Medical Center is a leading hospital in Korea, and we congratulate them on the establishment of their first gastroenterology hospital outside of Korea in Dubai through the collaboration with Scope Investment and the Dubai Healthcare City Authority.
“We look forward to providing the best healthcare services to patients not only in the UAE but the whole GCC region and around the world through this hospital.”
Furthermore, AMC is planning to raise local healthcare standards by transforming the new hospital into an educational hub for the Middle East.
This initiative will involve training local medical professionals along with the incorporation of South Korean medical expertise by deploying a team to the Asan – UAE Gastroenterology Hospital.
