Advocate Health’s Atrium Health has begun construction on Atrium Health Lake Norman, a new hospital in Cornelius, North Carolina, US.

The 170,000ft² hospital will feature 30 beds, maternity suites, an intensive care unit, two operating rooms, and an emergency department.

The facility aims to provide high-quality healthcare with advanced technology to meet the growing needs of the community.

Expected to open in 2025, the hospital will create around 280 new jobs.

Recognising the increasing demand for emergency, primary, and speciality care in North Mecklenburg County, Atrium Health aims to offer convenient access to quality care without requiring residents to travel to Charlotte.

The facility is also expected to provide services such as mobile MRI, CT scans, radiography, and ultrasound, along with laboratory and pharmacy services.

The construction of Atrium Health Lake Norman is said to be part of the organisation's growth plan, which includes significant investments in capital expenditure.

In addition, Atrium Health has opened other healthcare facilities in the region recently to meet the expanding healthcare needs of the community.
