Baptist Health has inaugurated a new 40-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.

Located at 11800 Bluegrass Parkway, this facility is a collaborative venture between Baptist Health and Encompass Health, which is considered to be the largest operator of rehabilitation hospitals in the US.

Baptist Health Rehabilitation Hospital will provide critical rehabilitative services to patients recovering from various severe conditions.

It is equipped to assist patients recovering from strokes, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, amputations, and complex orthopaedic conditions.

Patients at the hospital are expected to undergo a minimum of three hours of intensive therapy for five days each week. They will also benefit from frequent physician visits and round-the-clock nursing care.

The hospital offers an array of amenities to support patient recovery, including private rooms, a therapy gym with advanced rehabilitation technologies, and an activities of daily living suite.

Additional facilities include a therapy courtyard, dining room, in-house pharmacy, and a dayroom area. An interdisciplinary team comprising specialised nurses, therapists, and physicians delivers physical, occupational, and speech therapies.

Baptist Health CEO Gerard Colman stated: "It's been 33 years since Baptist Health cut the ribbon on a newly constructed hospital. This project is a sterling example of meeting strategic goals by marrying next-generation healthcare with improving access to care to meet the needs of our communities."

Encompass Health Central region president Troy Dedecker also commented on the collaboration, saying: "We are excited to celebrate the opening of our joint venture hospital with Baptist Health, with the unified goal of providing high-quality patient care to patients of the Louisville community. With our patients at the forefront of our minds, we have designed the hospital to accommodate all of their needs as they regain strength, function, hope and independence."

The hospital's single-storey building design is intended to facilitate patient mobility and provide convenient access for families and visitors.

This development comes on the heels of Baptist Health's expansion of telehealth services to over 700 bedsides last month, utilising Caregility's telehealth platform.
