Best Buy Health and Mass General Brigham have partnered to enhance healthcare delivery by focusing on at-home services.

The partners intend to help develop solutions to enhance the Home Hospital model, providing acute-level hospital care for conditions such as heart disease, COPD and infections at patients' homes.

This initiative aims to provide better outcomes, reduced mortality, and shorter hospital stays.

The primary initiative of this collaboration is to expand Mass General Brigham's Home Hospital, an acute home-based care model.

The collaboration is also expected to address workforce shortages in the healthcare industry.

Best Buy Health's retail footprint, digital experience and technology capabilities will support Mass General Brigham's Healthcare at Home portfolio.

Mass General Brigham will use Best Buy Health’s technology, including the Current Health platform and Lively Mobile Plus personal emergency response system, to help improve patient connectivity and the coordination of home-based care.

The partners also aim to invest in the community by fostering the next generation of the Healthcare at Home workforce through academic opportunities and scholarships in nursing, paramedic and digital technology careers.

Mass General Brigham Healthcare at Home president Heather O’Sullivan said: “At Mass General Brigham, we are building the integrated healthcare system of the future across the entire continuum of patient care needs.

“As a recognised leader of Home Hospital services, we understand that consumers are increasingly choosing the comfort of care at home as an alternative to traditional, facility-based delivery settings.

“By enabling our world-class provider services with technology that matters, we are elevating system capabilities and, most importantly, improving clinical outcomes for the communities we serve today while preparing for the future delivery of care more broadly.”
