The Government of Manitoba, a province in Canada, is set to open the first minor injury clinic in Brandon later this month. 

The announcement was made by Manitoba Health, Seniors, and Long-Term Care Minister Uzoma Asagwara. 

The Brandon Minor Injury and Illness Clinic, situated at 144 Sixth Street, will be accessible seven days a week, from 10am to 10pm.  

It aims to streamline the care process for patients with minor health issues. 

Patients will have the convenience of booking appointments online, with a portion of the schedule reserved for walk-in visits.  

This system is designed to optimise patient flow and reduce wait times. 

Once open, the clinic will employ a team of healthcare professionals, including physicians and nurse practitioners, to address a variety of minor health concerns.  

These concerns may range from suspected fractures, rashes, fevers, colds, sore throats, eye infections, and sprains to other minor infections and abdominal pain. 

This new clinic is being opened as part of a broader provincial initiative to enhance primary care services in Manitoba.  

The clinic in Brandon joins another in Winnipeg's Corydon Avenue, with two additional facilities planned to open in Winnipeg.  

Asagwara said: “This clinic is all about convenience and quick care for Brandon families. 

“It’s great news for parents when their kid needs stitches or a cast or anyone who needs to see a doctor for non-urgent care and doesn’t want to spend hours in a waiting room.  

“Our government promised to create more of these clinics across the province and I’m pleased we will soon open our first one in Brandon.” 

The new minor injury and illness clinic has been opened as part of the C$17m ($12.52m) Budget 2024 investment.  

It is projected to serve more than 700 patients each week, once operational.
