The Western Australia Government has issued an invitation to local contractors and suppliers to express their interest in participating in the A$451m ($303.8m) redevelopment of Bunbury Regional Hospital.

This call for tenders encompasses a wide range of services, including structural works, interior fit-outs, and various essential services.

The project includes the expansion of the emergency department, an increase in operating theatre capacity, and the addition of new beds. It also focuses on broadening mental health, maternity, birthing, and neonatal services.

The redevelopment will also deliver new clinical equipment, support facilities, and a boost in digital capability.

A key feature of the new hospital will be Western Australia's first regional training, education, and research centre, which is part of the government's plans to future-proofing healthcare services for South West families.

Western Australia health minister Amber-Jade Sanderson said: “We’re undertaking the biggest ever redevelopment of a country hospital in WA which will see us deliver one of the most modern healthcare facilities in regional Australia.

“The A$451m redevelopment will include an expanded emergency department, increased theatre capacity, additional beds and expanded mental health facilities, and maternity and birthing services for the region.”

Bunbury MLA Don Punch said: “We're encouraging local contractors and suppliers to apply to deliver key services including structural works, fit out and finishes, external works and electrical, mechanical and hydraulic services as part of this important redevelopment.

“Our commitment to engaging local contractors - and creating local jobs - is integral for the South West community to be part of the project every step of the way.”
