UAE-based speciality healthcare company Burjeel Holdings has launched the Burjeel Institute for Global Health in the US.

The launch of the institute is part of Burjeel's efforts to strengthen and promote global partnerships in education, healthcare and research.

To mark its inauguration, the company held a series of discussions on cancer care and technological innovations with global experts.

Among those taking part in these discussions was UAE State for Foreign Trade Minister Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, who highlighted the UAE's commitment to using research and education to improve health outcomes worldwide.

The institute's establishment is part of Burjeel's strategy to attract talent and academic excellence by hiring medical professionals, researchers and scientists while strengthening its clinical and research capabilities.

Al Zeyoudi expressed his aspirations for the institute to become a centre for cancer research and treatment, care and drug development.

He said: “The UAE is committed to taking healthcare to the next level. Our focus includes facilitating research and development partnerships, bringing best practices to hospitals in the UAE, and investing in technology to enhance our capabilities.

“Tackling cancer is one of the most critical challenges we face and we are determined to find solutions that can save lives, bring stability to families, and provide hope for the many children who are battling this cruel disease.

"Success requires a holistic approach and in particular the collaboration of the private sector, academia, regulators and non-governmental organisations.”

The event also covered the latest healthcare advancements and policies, with discussions addressing the impact of initiatives such as New York State's proposed bill for colorectal cancer screening coverage and innovative financing to combat cancer.

Through its New York office, Burjeel Holdings intends to solidify its role in global healthcare by initiating collaborations that aim to improve health outcomes worldwide.
