Cambodia’s largest public healthcare facility, Techo Santepheap National Hospital, located in its capital Phnom Penh, has officially opened, reported Khmer Times.

The facility at Kouk Roka commune of Prek Pnov district was inaugurated by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet.

Initiated during the Covid-19 pandemic by former Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen, the hospital is located on a 7.58ha site and is equipped with the latest medical facilities and has 9,496 beds.

It provides emergency and treatment services and features a laboratory, administration, technical and supply buildings, an information centre, pharmacy, parking lots and a rooftop helipad.

The hospital began trial operations in April this year.

It offers services for patients across Cambodia, including those from Phnom Penh's 14 districts and neighbouring Kandal and Kampong Speu provinces.

The hospital also provides a specialised cancer treatment centre for women.

Ground was broken on the Techo Santepheap National Hospital in February last year.

This project is stated to be a part of the government's move to improve healthcare in the country.

In March 2022, the Cambodia-China Friendship Tboung Khmum Hospital was opened in eastern Cambodia.

This five-storey hospital, built by China Railway Construction Group with funds received from the Chinese Government, has over 300 beds and is equipped with advanced medical technology for surgeries, treatments, and check-ups.

It was opened with the aim of boosting healthcare services in eastern and northeastern Cambodia.

This hospital was developed with an investment of $50m on 24,300m² of land in Tboung Khmum provincial town’s Srolob commune.
