US-based enterprise telehealth company Caregility has rolled out a range of new capabilities as part of its Cares 2.0 software series.

As part of the upgrade, the company has introduced a new telehealth programme, device fleet management capabilities, peripheral device integrations, and an interoperability standard option under Cares 2.0 software.

All these capabilities have been introduced for more than 75 different health systems connected to Caregility Cloud, a virtual care platform.

The latest enhancements add to Caregility’s existing ecosystem of integrated virtual care offerings that allow healthcare organisations to execute various telehealth programmes, which can be customised as per the specific requirements and use cases.

Following the new additions, Caregility Cloud will support virtual encounters between patients and remote caregivers, utilising a range of Interactive Patient Console (IPC) systems.

It will allow clinicians to use connected care devices, for instance, digital stethoscopes, in virtual care sessions and will even enable users to create virtual breakout rooms for various clinical workflows, such as educational sessions.

Caregility Cloud will further offer HL7 and Smart on FHIR interoperability that will allow the sharing of patient demographic data between electronic health record (EHR) admission, discharge and transfer systems, as well as virtual care programmes.

A new ‘programme list’ feature has also been added to manage virtual observation programmes and for transferring patient observation session data during virtual sitter and nurse shift changes to avoid redundant data entry in iObserver.

Caregility chief product and engineering officer Kedar Ganta said: “Cares 2.0 marks the latest step in our unrelenting pursuit of virtual care applications that help healthcare teams improve process efficiency and positively impact care quality.

“We continue to explore new boundaries to offer patients and care teams innovative ways to transform inpatient care delivery in today’s changing landscape.”

The Caregility Cloud platform has been designed to cover a purpose-built ecosystem of enterprise telehealth solutions.

According to the company, this platform currently supports over 1,000 hospitals across 75 health systems, with more than six million virtual care sessions organised every year.
