Abu Dhabi’s Department of Health (DoH) has announced the opening of a new neuroscience centre at the Reem Hospital in Al Reem Island, UAE.

The new Reem Neuroscience Centre has been developed to provide holistic mental health care to address a variety of people's mental healthcare needs.

It includes outpatient clinics and an inpatient psychiatric department supported by psychiatrists and clinical psychologists.

The new facility can serve up to 6,000 patients every month.

It provides care for conditions such as psychiatry, psychotherapy, child psychiatry, and addiction treatment.

In addition, it is equipped with a specialised laboratory for diagnosing attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

The centre offers specialised beds for conditions such as eating disorders, mood disorders, and psychosis, along with advanced treatment options for Alzheimer's disease and child psychiatry.

Reem Hospital and Reem Neuroscience Centre chairman Zaid Al Siksek said: “Following the DoH Abu Dhabi’s call to prioritise both mental and physical health, Reem Hospital establishes a new Reem Neuroscience Centre.

“This expansion complements existing healthcare services and recognises the importance of enhancing the quality of life within the community.”

The launch of the new centre concurs with Reem Hospital's current expansion project to add 25 inpatient psychiatric beds.

Plans are also on for additional expansion initiatives to cope with the increasing demand for specialised mental health services in the region.

DoH undersecretary Dr Noura Khamis Al Ghaithi said: “We commend Reem Hospital’s efforts in alignment with DoH's commitment to safeguard the mental and physical wellbeing of all members of the community, ensuring the quality of healthcare services provided to them.”
