Children's Hospital New Orleans has expanded its paediatric services in the US' North Shore region by opening an outpatient therapy clinic in Covington, Louisiana.
Located on the Lakeview Hospital campus, the facility spans 4,100ft² and is dedicated to providing paediatric physical, occupational and speech and language therapy.
It adds to the current paediatric services offered by Children’s Hospital on the LCMC Health sister hospital campus.
The facility has been designed to create a welcoming and efficient space for children and families, featuring dedicated therapy, gym and treatment rooms.
Architecture firm Eskew Dumez Ripple designed the clinic, while Bradley Design & Construction built it.
Children’s Hospital New Orleans Hospital Operations assistant vice-president Todd Danos said: “With the expansion of space, and the addition of new staff, our capacity to provide outpatient rehabilitation services has nearly doubled.
“That means more children will have access to the care and support they need, when and where they need it.”
As a 263-bed academic paediatric medical centre, Children's Hospital New Orleans provides a full spectrum of healthcare services across more than 40 specialities.
The hospital employs more than 600 paediatric providers and offers services throughout Louisiana and the Gulf South.
It operates speciality clinics in Covington, Baton Rouge, Alexandria and Lafayette, Louisiana, as well as Diamondhead, Missouri.
Children's Hospital New Orleans is the only CARF accredited paediatric rehabilitation programme in Louisiana and one of only two children's hospitals in the US to receive this certification.
