US-based Children’s National Hospital has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with UAE-based Kanad Hospital to advance paediatric and diagnostics care.
Through a strategic partnership, the parties aim to leverage their combined expertise to improve children's health and well-being in the UAE.
The deal will focus on enhancing neurodevelopmental and behavioural health services for children.
In addition, the hospitals will also establish a joint prenatal, foetal, and neonatal neurology programme.
Children's National Hospital president and CEO Michelle Riley-Brown said: “We are thrilled to partner with Kanad Hospital, the oldest hospital in the UAE.
“This MOU signifies our shared commitment to pushing the boundaries of paediatric medicine through clinical collaboration, education, and knowledge exchange.”
Children’s National is a paediatric academic health system that provides expert services through a primary care network and speciality care locations in the DC metropolitan area, including Maryland and Virginia.
Kanad Hospital leverages its technology to offer an innovative approach to healthcare, including its advanced neonatal and surgical services.
The facility is also leading research initiatives and is committed to continuously improving patient outcomes.
Kanad Hospital CEO John Birky said: “This partnership with Children’s National represents a significant step forward for Kanad Hospital.
“By working together, we can ensure that children in the UAE have access to high-quality diagnosis and services that are not currently available in the country.”
In August 2022, Children’s National Hospital and Howard University Hospital (HUH) in the US expanded their partnership in neonatal care.
As part of the agreement, neonatologists from Children’s National will now provide care in the neonatal intensive care unit at HUH.
The two institutions have been collaborating to ensure high-quality care for newborns.
