US-based health consultant Accarent Health has partnered with Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) to introduce virtual second opinion services in cardiology, oncology, and musculoskeletal specialities.
Under this affiliation, CHLA will provide specialists for virtual, peer-to-peer second opinion services in various paediatric fields.
Each bundled service offered by CHLA includes a thorough review of the patient's medical records by a specialist; additional reviews with surgical or radiation teams as necessary; genetic risk screening; clinical trials screening; and a comprehensive written summary of findings and treatment options sent to the referring doctor.
Virtual consultations will be offered to patients to discuss the second opinion report.
Furthermore, CHLA has developed several surgical episodes of care for cardiovascular issues, musculoskeletal disorders, neurologic conditions, and gene replacement therapy to back the second opinion services.
All the bundled offerings of CHLA are claimed to be accessible through the Accarent network.
Accarent Health serves as a conduit between employers, patients, and plan administrators, connecting them to high-quality medical centres.
The company claims to provide transparent bundled pricing, relevant clinical information, travel and concierge assistance, and direct case management to consumers.
With this approach, Accarent aims to make value-based healthcare easily understandable for decision-makers, without the need for annual membership fees or volume requirements.
In August 2022, CHLA partnered with Accarent to expand its paediatric care offerings.
Through this collaboration, CHLA provided bundled episodes of care for Zolgensma to treat infants with Spinal Muscular Atrophy, and Luxturna injections for patients with congenital blindness.
