US-based digital patient engagement company CipherHealth has introduced AI Summaries for its CipherRounds toolkit, a significant development aimed at transforming the patient rounding process in healthcare facilities.

The generative artificial intelligence (AI)-powered tool is designed to streamline the gathering of patient information, which traditionally involves navigating multiple platforms and can lead to errors and inefficiencies.

By offering a unified snapshot of patient data, AI Summaries enables healthcare teams to quickly understand a patient's experience and status, leading to improved communication and patient satisfaction.

The tool addresses several challenges faced by rounding staff, such as the complexity of data management, the risk of staff burnout, and patient frustration.  

Its capabilities include generating clear and short summaries of patient histories, providing talking points tailored to individual health journeys, highlighting care aspects requiring attention, and ensuring real-time data accessibility.

By centralising patient information, the AI Summaries tool facilitates a seamless flow of information, which is crucial for timely interventions.

It also allows healthcare professionals to save time on data preparation and focus more on direct patient care, ultimately enhancing the overall efficiency of the rounding process.
