US-based healthcare technology company Clarium has garnered $10.5m in a funding round, which was led by General Catalyst.
Other contributors to this fundraiser included Kaiser Permanente Ventures, Yale New Haven Health, and Texas Medical Center Venture Fund, along with existing investors such as AlleyCorp, 1984 Ventures, and Alumni Ventures.
The investment will help expand the health tech’s talent pool in various areas covering engineering, sales, and data science, as well as aid its technological investments, including in generative artificial intelligence (AI).
Clarium also intends to use the funds to enhance integration with existing partners such as CommonSpirit, Yale New Haven Health, and others. The goal is to develop programmes with more health systems and refine the platform's product line-up.
The recent financing round has raised Clarium's total capital to $16m.
In addition, the company introduced Astra OS, an AI-based workflow and data platform designed to optimise supply chain operations. Health system partners using this platform have reportedly tracked cost savings of over $10m and significant productivity gains.
Clarium's Astra OS has been said to be instrumental in reducing disruption resolution time by 50%, lowering substitute approval time by 63%, and increasing the approval of clinically validated substitutes by 3.7 times.
The healthcare industry faces hurdles with fragmented data, leading to overspending on supply chain operations and related operations by more than $25bn annually. Clarium aims to address these issues.
Commenting on the impact of Astra OS, Clarium founder and CEO Steve Liou stated: "Our AI-powered platform and data ecosystem, Astra OS, brings hospitals and providers to the cutting edge of technology and helps to dramatically optimise spend, enhance workforce productivity, and ultimately improve patient outcomes."
General Catalyst partner Reva Nohria added: "Clarium's Astra OS is aiming to fill a market gap with its end-to-end enterprise platform for supply chain operations. Through deep integrations and the application of generative AI, we believe Clarium will drive a paradigm shift in supply chain efficiency."
