Cleveland Clinic Children's in Ohio, US, has expanded its healthcare services in Akron, with the inauguration of its first paediatric primary care and speciality services hub.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to mark the opening of the new facilities at Cleveland Clinic Akron General’s Medical Office Building on 676 South Broadway Street, enhancing the existing women's healthcare services.
The newly launched paediatric office has 18 exam rooms, which include specialised areas for pulmonary testing, echocardiograms, and allergy testing observation, along with two rooms dedicated to behavioural health.
Starting 16 September, primary care services will be available and speciality services will launch in the coming weeks.
The Akron site will have 23 physician providers, who are responsible for delivering an extensive array of paediatric care services.
These services encompass specialities such as allergy, cardiology, pulmonology, nutrition, nephrology, psychiatry, psychology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, haematology/oncology, primary care, and rheumatology.
In addition to paediatric care, Cleveland Clinic Akron General’s Broadway medical office building provides comprehensive prenatal and women’s healthcare.
This integration aims to provide families with seamless access to health services, from pregnancy and throughout early childhood.
Cleveland Clinic Children’s interim chief Rita Pappas said: “This expansion in downtown Akron reflects our commitment to improving access to high-quality specialised paediatric care in the region.
“Families can now receive specialised services closer to home and for more residents of Summit County.”
