US-based Catholic healthcare system Franciscan Health, together with orthopaedic practice OrthoIndy, started the construction of a new surgery centre in West Lafayette, Indiana, US.
The beginning of construction work was marked by a ground-breaking ceremony, which took place at the hospital site.
The 44,000ft² facility, named ‘Franciscan OrthoIndy Surgery Center’, will house an orthopaedic clinic and surgery centre, providing services such as physical therapy, orthopaedic urgent care, and other imaging services.
The new facility, strategically positioned next to Cason Family Park, will offer a comprehensive range of specialities, including arthroscopy, foot and lower extremity, general orthopaedics, hand and upper extremity, sports medicine, total joint replacement
Tonn and Blank, an US-headquartered construction management company, is tasked with overseeing the project.
The expected completion date for the facility is set for 2025.
Franciscan Health Western Indiana president and CEO Terry Wilson said: “Breaking ground was the first step in the process to bring this great collaboration between Franciscan Health and OrthoIndy to life.
“We have formed a tremendous partnership with the singular focus of providing best-in-class services and care in a state-of-the-art facility.”
Once open, the Franciscan OrthoIndy Surgery Center will be staffed by a team of OrthoIndy surgeons, including Drs John Bauman, Mark Page, Daniel Daluga, Michael Cross, Paul Rodenhouse, Michael Highhouse, Troy Roberson, Richard Rosales, Joel Virkler, Peter Torok, and Jonathan Shook.
Until the new facility is operational, these surgeons will continue to see patients at the clinic located at 1411 South Creasy Lane.
OrthoIndy CEO John Ryan added: “This new facility will be a true one-stop location, fulfilling virtually every orthopaedic care need including orthopaedic-only urgent care.”
The establishment of the new centre is in line with Franciscan Health and OrthoIndy’s shared goal to deliver enhanced orthopaedic care for patients in Indiana.
Franciscan has a longstanding presence in Greater Lafayette, providing care for 148 years with a range of services while OrthoIndy has nearly 100 physicians serving in the central Indiana region from 12 locations, offering advanced care for bone, joint, spine, and muscle conditions.
