US-based healthcare organisations ContinuEM and Falck Physicians Group have partnered to launch digitally enabled at-home medical services in Southern California.
Initially focused on Los Angeles and Orange counties, the collaboration aims to 'revolutionise' in-home mobile medical care.
The model will provide immediate access to ER physicians during at-home visits and is expected to reduce healthcare costs, as well as emergency department and hospital visits.
ContinuEM and Falck will offer a comprehensive range of at-home medical services backed by board-certified emergency medicine physicians and ContinuEM's advanced facilities.
The partners' integrated approach aims to address challenges in overcrowded hospital-based emergency rooms and enable timely care.
Services will include remote patient monitoring and ContinuEM's proprietary digital health tools, which make use of artificial intelligence.
The partnership is expected to save $12bn in healthcare costs for Los Angeles and Orange counties, benefiting around eight million patients.
ContinuEM co-founder and COO Dr Bobby Massoudian said: "We are proud to work with Falck to bring additional important resources consistent with our mission of providing better access to our patients and reducing visits to the emergency departments.
“With this new venture with Falck Physicians Group, we strive to continue this growth and improve access to healthcare for many more patients starting at home, here at our current site, and in new locations to come.”
ContinuEM has treated more than 30,000 patients since its establishment in August 2021.
The company claims to have seen a 500% rise in daily patient visits, a 94% reduction in wait times compared to hospital emergency departments (EDs) and a 71% fall in costs compared with traditional ED visits.
ContinuEM co-founder and CEO Freddy Sotelo said: “Falck is committed to the health and safety of the communities we serve, and we are proud to join forces to provide quality services that are aligned with the needs and demands of our patients.”
