US-based academic health system Cooper University Health Care and charitable non-profit healthcare organisation Inspira Health have teamed up to establish Cooper and Inspira Neuroscience.

This collaboration aims to improve access to advanced neuroscience care, including surgical and nonsurgical services for brain, spinal cord, and central nervous system-related conditions.

Patients in Southern New Jersey and Greater Philadelphia are expected to benefit from access to specialised services such as neurology, neurosurgery, neuro-oncology, and more.

Inspira Health president and CEO Amy Mansue said: "We have proven with Cooper and Inspira Cardiac Care that our teams can successfully collaborate to provide the highest level of cardiac care, and we are confident the same will be true for patients needing the most advanced neurological care.

“By integrating care between our two health systems, we are enhancing access to highly coordinated comprehensive patient care that includes prevention, diagnosis, treatment and healing for the full spectrum of brain, spine and nerve diseases, conditions and disorders.”

According to a press statement, Cooper and Inspira Neuroscience will provide advanced treatments, including robotic and minimally invasive procedures.

Cooper University Health Care co-CEO Dr Anthony Mazzarelli said: “By combining the resources and expertise at Cooper and Inspira, we are extending this successful model to provide exceptional neurological care to more communities.

“We are confident this venture will save lives and benefit many patients in need of complex neurological care.”

This partnership between the health systems is said to be built on the success of their previous collaboration, Cooper and Inspira Cardiac Care.
